SUPPLEMENTAL RULES OF PLAY

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf and its Decisions except as modified by the Rocky Mountain Section PGA Rules of Play and the following local rules for Centennial Golf Course.

Format - Ages 13-18 divisions - 36 holes stroke play. Ages 12 & Under divisions – 18 holes stroke play

Limitation on Golf Balls ("ONE-BALL RULE") - This optional condition described in Appendix 1 will NOT be in effect.

Out of Bounds – Is defined by the nearest inside points at ground level of white pvc stakes and/or white lines. Where both stakes and lines are present, stakes identify Out of Bounds and lines define Out of Bounds. Maintenance yard fencing and areas are Out of Bounds as is any property boundary fence.

Ground Under Repair – Enclosed white lined areas define ground under repair. Holes and casts made by burrowing animals and french drains are considered ground under repair, even if unmarked. Rule 25

Water Hazards and Lateral Water Hazards - Water Hazards are identified by yellow stakes and defined by yellow lines. Lateral water hazards are identified by red stakes and defined by red lines. When both stakes and lines are used to define the hazards, stakes identify and lines define margins. Rule 26

Distance Measuring Devices-Yardage Finders: Such devices and/or gauges are permitted during competition. Any device used must measure distance ONLY. It may not have any other features. Penalty - disqualification. Rule 14-3

Caddies – Players are not allowed to have caddies.

Footwear – It is a condition of competition that shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited. Penalty: disqualification.

Practice – Note 2 under Rule 7 and Optional Condition as prescribed in Appendix I shall be in effect. No practice putting after completing any hole is permitted.

Discontinuance of Play – Note under Rule 6-8b and Optional Condition as prescribed in Appendix I shall be in effect. All practice areas shall be closed during suspension for a dangerous situation until the Committee has declared them open. A player using such practice area will be subject to a penalty of disqualification.
Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation shall be signaled by one prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension shall be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes, repeated. Resumption of play shall be signaled by two short air horn notes, repeated.

Relief for Embedded Ball (APPENDIX I) – Through the green, a ball that is embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground may be lifted, without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.
Exceptions :1. A player may not take relief under this Local Rule if the ball is embedded in sand in an area that is not closely mown.

PACE OF PLAY CONDITIONS
Out Of Position –A group will be considered out of position if it reaches the tee of a par-3 hole and the preceding group has cleared the next tee, reaches the tee of a par-4 hole and the putting green is clear, or reaches the tee of a par-5 hole when the preceding group is on the putting green.

Group Out Of Position – If a group is out of position, the players in that group may be timed. Groups will NOT be told they are being timed.
Timing Procedures – When a group is out of position each player is expected to play any stroke within 40 seconds after timing begins. The timing of a player’s stroke will begin when the player has had reasonable opportunity to reach his ball, it is his turn to play and he can play without interference. Time spent for determining yardages will count as part of the time taken for the next stroke. On the putting green, timing will begin after the player has been allowed a reasonable amount of time to lift, clean and replace his ball, repair his ball mark and others on his line of putt and remove loose impediments. Time spent looking at the line of putt from beyond the hole and/or behind the ball will count as part of the time taken for the next stroke. A player, who exceeds the applicable time to play a stroke, will be advised as soon as possible.

Penalties – Following are the penalties, in sequence, for any player subject to timing and exceeds the 40 seconds allotted:
First Violation – Warning
Second Violation – 2-stroke penalty
Third Violation – Disqualification
Should a group in question regain its proper position, any previous timing violations will be carried over for the remainder of the round.

Playoff(s) – Any necessary playoff(s) for the overall Boy and Girl champion and second qualifier as well as age division winners will start from hole #1 upon completion of the final round. A scorecard playoff will be used to determine ties for 2nd and 3rd awards in each age division on the basis of the best score for the last nine holes. If the tying players have the same score for the last nine, we will use the last six holes, last three holes and finally the 18th hole.

Doubt as to Procedure - If in Doubt as to Procedure, announce to your fellow-competitor(s) your intention to play two golf balls, state which ball you intend to use for your score and report the facts to the committee before returning your scorecard. Failure to report the facts to the Committee will result in Disqualification. Rule 3-3

Scorecard - Return your properly executed scorecard, after checking all hole scores with your marker and having both your marker and your signatures attached, to the Official Scoring Area which is located in the banquet room of the clubhouse.
